i love that you can just stumble upon peak cinema on a random ass wednesday like this.

just phenomenal stuff

Had to just stare at the screen as the credits roll after this one. Just a brutal, heartbreaking film at its core. Its riddled with scenes that will shock you and make your skin crawl. Genuinely from start to finish it is a nonstop showcase of grief and pain, violence and gore, filled with an enigmatic evil that lingers throughout the film. The Philippou brothers genuinely worry me for their mental health😭All in all tho an amazing film and really brought emotion out of me towards the end.

A slow burner with some really creepy sequences towards the end but it didnt really stand out much to me. The runtime was a little longer than id like but its very similar in style to the Paranormal Activity films, leading you to that big, over the top finish they tend to do.

Everything I love in a good grimy horror this was. The plot, the score, the GORE. Also the acting and inner monologue was so so good. Such a tragic story all around tbh and I can see why this was banned in some countries cause man its dark for its time.

Cool prequel ending but it doesnt really do much for me sadly. Another case of me not gaf about any of these characters man. But there were a couple cool deaths for sure. Definitely not the worst film in the franchise.

As a person who has only recently seen most of the films in this franchise and is not blinded by nostalgia in any form, yea man this shit fucked so hard and im claiming it as the best by far.

Adam Wingard does it again man. Erin is no doubt a top final girl of all time, and I loved the vibes of this one. Textbook late 2000s aesthetic with the grimy color grading and camera work. Some really fun kills and hilarious characters too. Needed a dash more of Barbara imo but still easily a step above the rest of these types of films. My final girl rankings list will have to be tweaked for sure after this.

Okay now we're back on track (pun intended). But this one just had that aura to it. Im sad we get no Tony Todd scene in this one but regardless it still bangs, from the solid premonition sequence, to a slew of iconic deaths, this one had the right mix and kept me entertained the whole way through. And I loved the way they used the camera pictures as a new and creative way to see the signs. Best one so far for sure.

This was horror on many levels whew. We thought it was going one way and it switched lanes on us out of nowhere! Had a great time with this one tho and I liked the messaging behind it all which I wont spoil but its very haunting to think about.

this probably goes so hard if youve never seen a horror movie before

going through all of that for the most mid prince in all of the lands is insane. but this one was pretty good! definitely one of the grossest and hard to watch films of the year, but is a great retelling of the age old cinderella story and a harsh reminder that men are not worth getting that nose job and medieval ozempic.

holy shit what a masterpiece....

what an insane set of events in this film. beautiful film btw and i enjoyed getting lost in its mine blending story. some of it was tough to watch and some were confusing to watch, but seeing the themes of dealing with identity and mental health issues, the difficulties that arise in the entertainment business, and dealing with stalker fans and manipulative friends played out such an intriguing film that had me guessing all the way to the end.

This one had potential to be great but my goodness you couldnt have found a more bland band of characters. Caught myself looking to see how much time was left in this one multiple times. I enjoyed what they were going for, the effects were pretty decent at times and i am a fan of conspiracy theories but this one just fell flat for me.

I love how no-sided this film is in relation to the pro-war vs anti-war debate in the film community. Instead of choosing a biased lens, it just tells a story of two sides at battle. And how grizzly and horrifying it can really be. Theres no mission or motive or big bad guy to hate. Its just warfare and a human experience that 99% of people will never have to go through. It adds a heartbreaking level of realization that this is just one tiny blip on the entire scale of global warfare. A single moment in time filled with lifetimes of pain, suffering, and death. And it happens daily throughout our history. war is hell.

not even joking this is one of the best films of the YEAR so far. a super fun anthology-like film that weaves all of its stories and characters together for one long drawn out day of "freaky tales". From punk rockers fighting neo-nazis, to a girl rap duo battling the local star, this leads you down a path of underdog stories that are undeniably a great time. not to forget a Metallica needle-drop that will for sure be one of the best this year has to offer. we need more people talking about this wacky, campy, and unpredictably freaky film.

I love when Jeffrey Combs plays little freaks like this and I love Barbara Crampton once again; she never lets me down. Also I wanna chug down like 3 bottles of those reanimation serums, they looked way too good. But anyways, I enjoyed this one a lot, such a tragic rollercoaster of events unfolding and seeing people taking literal life into their own hands for greed was nothing surprising. There's never been any good from bringing the dead back to life so lets keep it that way shall we 😍

David Dastmalchian cant get away from the devil in any lifetime it seems. But this film was honestly kinda mid. It teetered between trying to have "Evil Dead" "Drag Me to hell"—esque scare tactics with some comedic moments while also trying to be some sort of a serious film, never committing to either side and kinda falling flat in the end. I enjoyed the perspective on cultural immigration and how horrific it could be and the sacrifices it takes for first generation family to take that risk for their loved ones. But sadly the lack of character and relationship building failed to drive that message home to its fullest.

that was fantastic. older films are hit or miss but man this kept me highly entertained with so little going on. the dialogue and character dynamics were great, it was super intense, the constant news updates gave it a hightened sense of realism. and damn that ending so true it may be for someone if this was real.

with themes of remorse and guilt wrapped around the center of this anthology film, nothing quite made sense until the very end. But still it was done in mid fashion and was just too all over the place for me to latch onto anything. Great idea but bad execution.

Had a moment where I looked around the packed theater and realized im watching one of my fave movies of all time on the big screen for the first time in 20 years and I just smiled.

has a pretty slow start to it but once we get in the mix it can be pretty effective with its haunting atmosphere. the cgi was so poop at times and didnt have as much fear factor as the first but i did enjoy the lore expansion of the creepy hospital and the return of old faces

really really well done body horror and horror acting in this one with a lot of intrigue and mystery in its plot. that was a hard 10 minute watch.

from what starts as a slow burning cute relationship blooming quickly turns into a world of psychosexual cannibalism as Mark fights between feelings of right and wrong while falling head over heels for Ash. It has an overall low quality feel to it while also being very charming and heartwarming at times. The ending was also predictable but the performance from Ash kept my eyes glued to the screen.

oof this got dark and very real. i can see why this one is so polarizing with its heavy themes and such. not an easy one to sit with but it was a solid film nonetheless. idk how i feel about the ambiguous choice of an ending tho.

OKAY MR CROWLEY I SEE YOU. The gore was off the charts like so damn good. Even tho it dresses itself like a grimey slasher comedy, its lowkey a tragedy at its core mixed with the same vibes i get from the live action Scooby Doo films. We love a slasher classic in this household.

this one isnt as good as the first two simply based on principle that it went away from its roots a bit. but what we're left with is a heartfelt love story turned tragedy as evil befalls these poor people. im loving the lore expansion of this series and learning more and more about this outbreak through the lens of these absolute tragedies.

The story was intriguing and the main character my goodness is she gorgeous but also so badass with that chainsaw. Some cool kills and gore as well. But man what an ending

mixed feelings on this one. i definitely dont hate it as much as the rest but i feel like it could have been done better. I enjoyed and understood the story of Corey and Rohan did AMAZING with his role and character arc but to have it start in Ends instead of having a huge buildup between all 3 films was a wasted opportunity. I also feel like there was no real catharsis from Laurie at the end. Maybe there wasnt supposed to be but to me i think after decades of fighting this evil youd release more emotion after. Left me wanting more (not in a good way)

I mean atp what the hell do we DOOO!! nuke the goddamn city, evil is NOT dying tonight. The kills in this one were SUPERB like there were ones giving me Terrifier vibes, they were so brutal. I liked what they tried doing with the whole "mob mentality" side story showing how fast evil can spread. Laurie girl please lock tf in next film i need him GONE.

This man Michael did more aura farming than all of his past movies combined omg. But nah this was pretty solid. And greater than most of the franchise tbh. The kills were fun and gruesome, Mike was insanely ominous in this and i loved the dark tone of this one. Pretty solid.

Man the deaths in this will most likely not be topped all year (until you know what drops), and there was some solid comedic effort made as well, but at the base of it was a hollow shell of a film. Didnt care much for the characters or plot and the dialogue was so strange. The candy is definitely all in the kills with this one so just sit back and enjoy the carnage.

This was okay, pretty slow to get to the good stuff (if we can call it that 😭) and kinda ate out of “Creep”s bag a little bit with the overall plot. But the climax was fun and the ending was so bizarre i genuinely have no words for it 💀💀

ngl this might be camp of the year lmao. I had way more fun with this than I imagined I would. The kills were fun, gross, and creative as expected from the Terrifier crew. DHT was deep in his silly bag, & the corniness was at an all time high.

Wow this felt so surreal by the end of it, i was on the edge of my seat. it was funny and heartwarming and charming, while also being so authentic and intimate and haunting, which just added to the bleakness of the whole thing. It truly felt like i watched a real group of friends lives fall apart and imagining that feeling in my own life just hit very different. Super Bleak Times man… :(

anyone not familiar with analog horror should give this a watch. a solid example of a growing subgenre built upon the nostalgic vhs aesthetic while creating feelings of unease and discomfort in its unsettling atmosphere. It doesnt take long to get going and youre hit with grainy footage, distorted and loud audio, and unthinkable cosmic and religious horrors throughout. This one may have played its hand a little too early which led to a more drawn out sequence of horrors but still very effective and a fine example of a fun and frankly scary asf subgenre when done well.

this was actually solid! like if you ed a malware videogame that turned you into the Evil Dead lmao. Shot in the screenlife format with all of them on a web call together, things got really wild once the going got demonic. i love this subgenre!!
