I haven't felt this way since last year in June when my eyes feasted on Spider-man: Across the Spider Verse for the first time. I haven't felt like this since two years ago when my heart was on FIRE for Daenerys Targaryen. I haven’t felt this way in a long time. This masterpiece brought back those truly missed feelings and I couldn't be more sick in love. My eyes were filled with tears but my constant fear of missing the beauty on screen refused to let them stream down my face. “Lisan al Gaib! Lisan al Gaib! Lisan al Gaib!” They cheer and you can’t help but think back to “The King in the North!” and (in my case) whisper along.
Whenever the Fremen came out of the sand and started dashing towards a fight is amongst the most badass stuff I’ve seen in my life. So badass and scary that they make that wimpy Beast run for his! Haha! Speaking of Beast, he was useless.. but Feyd-Rautha made up for it. Although, I do wish he was introduced or at least mentioned in the first film.
If this becomes as big as Star Wars or Lord of the Rings I’m not sure if I will be happy or sad. Dune brings so much complexity and a level of depth that I haven't found in recent films.
I get sick to my stomach whenever I listen to “A Time of Quiet Between the Storms” and it’s funny because my heart doesn't ache like it should when I’m watching Paul and Chani together. My husband called Chani a moody teenager and I can’t unsee it but still.. It doesn't diminish anything for me. One of my favorite scenes in Avatar is when Jake Sully manages to successfully ride Toruk and be one of the five Toruk Makto. Here Paul Atreides does the same thing but with Shai-Hulud, the eldest worm, and I was feeling epic. I can not wait for part three and for the Green Paradise we are being promised. Let’s go Muad’Dib!
