The gun fights are quick, and brutal. You almost never see where the shots are coming from unless the fight is up close. Obviously how these guys have dealt with their situation. Imagine being hunted across mountains and harsh terrain by 100’s of Taliban soldiers. 
The anxiety here is off the charts in a few scenes as things get too close. 
Dar Salim plays the interpreter and hero of this story. He’s a damned good actor.
The score is so heart wrenching during the flashback sequences. 
And imagine immersing yourself back into the same situation to repay your debt. It becomes doubly intense. 
Great military film with an exceptionally riveting plot. It’s a must see.

I'm not sure but I think I saw this when I was under 10 so I don't much.
This movie is so disted and feels like it was either made up as they were shooting it or a child wrote it.
Red head kids always get made the assholes in these early films.
Kids filling out entry forms to be put back into an orphanage?? These kids should be going to Xavier school not Pine Woods orphanage.
The boy uses a harmonica to work his powers? Silly ass stupid.

The story is told as bedtime story kind of like The Princess Bride from just 2 years previous. The whole film is narrated by the mother. Unfortunately the ADR from this Italian production is so poorly done it feels like a fairy tale aimed at simple adults. Also a few similarities to Disney’s Aladdin. It’s got some of the crazy 80’s white/blue lit CGI and horrible synth score. At one point we get Lou Ferrigno versus Lou Ferrigno.
John Steiner is killing here as Jaffar! Also am I into bodybuilder women? Cause DAMN Teagan Clive is hot in that leather get up. The acting just awful. At some points I thought the scene was gonna break into a porn scene.
I watched this turd for the How Did This Get Made? podcast.

This is a one part political thriller, one part courtroom drama, one part detective story, and 2 parts space military.

Another Golan-Globus Cannon cult classic which I somehow missed all these years. All the writing, action, and production values of an A-Team episode. 
The beginning survival sequence felt like a rip off of Romancing the Stone. My favorite part is the French owned Ninja camp. This is some of the slowest choreographed martial committed to film? video? Also the military guys here are as dumb as comedic keystone cops. This supposedly had a theater release. 
I had/have such a crush on Judie Aronson (Hilly from Weird Science for me). This is definitely a good/bad movie. So worth watching for a chuckle.

My rewatch journey ends with John Rambo's horror farm of Home Alone style booby traps.
The end revenge killing spree is brutal and fucking awesome.
Watching a massacre while listening to the Doors "Five to One"
The end has a Mortal Kombat fatality.

The writing has a full on Guy Ritchie feel to it. Jude Law plays Vortigern the evil uncle and the big bad that betrayed Arthurs father and now rules the local lands. In this version once Arthur is saved by the resistance he learns to wield the swords powers but also use his street smarts to seek revenge. The sword once used properly basically gives Arthur Matrix style abilities.
This has a fantasy element to it with giant battle pachyderms, a serpent like dark sea creature, dragon sized snakes, and magic via Mage and the infamous Merlin the magician. Arthur during the Excalibur training fights off all kinds of large overly cgi’ed rats, bats, and wolves.
It’s a visually striking film especially during the battle sequences. There’s even an appearance by David Beckham. I had no idea this film was actually really this good.

The Frenchman driver Prost was such a cry baby bitch. The F1 president because he was French had it out for Senna. 
It’s amazing to see how crazy people go for these racers in these third world countries. In the 90’s they changed the rules of the cars too much and it was absolutely fatal.

Takes place in the 1960’s thru 1978 in California. The film is mostly all the political aspects and events of Harvey’s life and how relentless he was over the years even to the dismay and suffering of his love life.
The wheelchair kid had me in tears.
Anita Bryant btw...cancer couldn’t have happened to a better candidate. Fuck her agenda!
This was a great biopic. Great acting, great directing...it’s also a really good political based film. Please give it a viewing.

Unfortunately after an event the program reprints Mickey 18 without realizing 17 isn’t dead. 18 is a psychopath.
Ruffalo plays Kenneth Marshall the very weird, eccentric right wing leader of the expedition. There are these cute alien insects that Marshall wants to exterminate just because he can. The whole film is a metaphor for humans who just want to destroy what they are too ignorant to understand just to feel powerful. Ruffalo s character reminds me of Trump. It’s a weird flick and not at all what I expected.

There is one moment of fire CGI that doesn't hold up.
The cell phone grab is the most anxiety you'll feel in the film.

4K rewatch 
Another villain who has an island compound and a fluffy white pet cat. 
The 70’s outfits are on point.
The final fight sequence is everything. Do I need a mirror room dojo?

A somewhat comedic crime thriller. Two sets of couples crossing paths in a Hitchcock caper. Faked deaths, ransom diamonds, disguises, attempted murders, and hokey shyster psychics. Our kidnapper husband and wife have the coolest hostage hideaway built into their brick wall. The "no brakes" scene is goofy...The character Blanche acts like an insane person. She is honestly the most annoying character in the movie. 
The film is beautifully shot and has a weird gothic like organ score.
I love film graininess on this blu-ray transfer. Gives it that classic feel. Unfortunately it dragged a bit near the end. Would have been better at a tight 90 mins.

This movie is full on carnage. Constant blood and guts. Non stop rain.
A bunch naive missionaries try and save a war torn genocidal country and get caught by the local warlord.
Rambo must go back, this time with a few hired mercenaries vs. 100's of bloodthirsty Burmese military.
Most likely the biggest Rambo body count in all the films. (247)

Riveting doc. A must watch

An overdramatized Robin Hood story that was filmed in Sicily.
Based on the original novel by The Godfather writer Mario Puzo. The novel was written as a spin off of Michael Corleones time in exile in Sicily but was never mentioned in the film.
Supposedly the film takes place in the late 1940’s early 50’s after WWII. The story is quite boring and the performances are just plain stiff and monotone. The ADR is a bit off at times like most Lambert films. I say skip it and watch the Godfathers again...

It's a pretty dull espionage flick. They don't even show any of the deaths, especially Caine's son. Caine goes full on detective. 
Also kind of stupid of the "government" to kill not only his son but also the son's girlfriends ex husband who also worked at the same government office but making them both look like suicide. Then they starting knocking off everyone connected making them all look like accidents. Just stupid. 
The film only gets kind of interesting when Caine starts his investigation and vengeance.

All was going good with Nate and Sherry the night before. The next day at the bank job she gets kidnapped during a robbery. What the kidnapper/ robbers don’t know is Nate “Novacaine” has a disease where he can’t feel pan…at all. He goes after Sherry and all hell breaks loose.
There is a pretty moderate body count for an action comedy. It’s definitely entertaining and worth the watch.

This wanted to be National Treasure, Indiana Jones, and Mission Impossible all rolled into one. It’s badly written and the acting sub par. Kras is trying to be witty like Ryan Reynolds but it all just falls flat.
I love me some Guy Ritchie but not this time. Probably one of his worst.

All the genius. All the warts. All the nostalgia.

The acting is phenomenal, the story well directed. The film indirectly deals with mental health. Major moral dilemma dealing with a cover up even though the man they killed was a known pedophile.

"It's Fambily"
When Dom Toretto says let's unleash the beast...it's never his penis, it's always a car...always..a...car.

Geppetto’s son Carlo is killed in an accidental WWII bombing. He then plants the boys found perfect pine cone next to the boys grave. The tree grows and during a drunken grief rage Geppetto cuts it down and carves a boy that the forest spirits make come to life.
“Cricket” is a character who also narrates the story. When the carved boy comes to life the town shuns them. Pinocchio seems most undisciplined and extremely hyper.
There’s a creepy monkey that looks more like gargoyle. Pinocchio eventually runs away with a carnival shyster and performs for Mussolini. Also there is a whole limbo world P returns to every time he is killed even though he cannot die. It’s all stop motion animation. The film is part musical too. The ending is slightly depressing and may bring questions about mortality to a child watching this.

The modern day adult characters in this film are over the top and considered “the bad guys” of the story.
There are several back stories being told while the main story takes place. The main one takes place in the old west with a woman named Kissin’ Kate Barlow.
It’s definitely a kids film based in a slight fantasy mixed with reality. This is a cult film for millennial adults because they grew up with it. For me it was sub par.

The film has a golden filter to it. 
Every bad character in town end up robbing each other in one big circle. Meanwhile 4 local boys owe the local card cheat half a million. One. Big. Circle.
Great soundtrack.

This is a world where animals, reptiles, fish, and humans coexist and they can all understand each other. One part Fast & Furious, one part Mission Impossible, and three parts Oceans 11, and two parts Looney Tunes.
C’mon a farting piranha is pure comedy gold and Marc Maron being animated as a snake is quite unique. Not to mention a horde of mind controlled evil guinea pigs.
It’s one of those bad guys become patsy’s when they finally do something good and then have to clear their name. Of course one person or fox still believes there’s good in them.
Dreamworks animation films always look so crisp and clean. It’s an okay film...

So picture if you will From Dusk Till Dawn but with a 1930s black juke t. I love me some Delroy Lindo. It’s a decent enough film with a lot of back story that takes up the first half of the film. Then you get the last half which is a full on collection of characters trying to survive a vampire attack in the old barn turned club.
The music was really good but the speakers in the theater I was in couldn’t handle it very well. It’s worth a viewing.
Also an appearance by Buddy Guy!!

H.E.K. is a known serial killer who strikes on Valentines Day and the media has been covering it for two years now. He uses arrows and knives with hearts on them. Part of the kill scenes are shown thru the POV of the killers mask. 
There is a meet cute scene, a makeover scene, and a Valentine’s Day dinner. So in a way this is a rom com horror. 
It has that Scream feel but it’s a bit more tongue in cheek. Unfortunately it’s pretty predictable.

The film basically reconstructs the day of the body of the girl being found.
The questioning by Freeman & Jane spark all the flashbacks of the storytelling as to how Hackman’s character “found” the dead girl.
Hackman sporting a bad hair piece here. Monica Bellucci, absolutely a stunning beauty.
I did however kind of figure out the set up pretty quickly. Hackman plays a nasty piece of work here.
Half of it takes place in the police station. The subject matter is delicate and creepy. Well written, well acted, well directed.

The Klingon ship Captain looking like Sho' Nuff from Enter the Dragon.
This stop in the franchise just seems to be going thru the paces and stealing from Star Wars, Stargate, Mad max and any sci-fi film with a cat-like woman... This time the big bad is a Vulcan cult leader with powers of persuasion. This one is about the real existence of GOD. Or is this a Wizard of Oz front. 
It also feels like they lost their usual special effects budget here.

Lots of CB radio trucker speak, diners, small town dirty cops, and roadside shenanigans. Kristofferson plays “Rubber Duck” Penwald the legendary trucker and his nemesis Lyle Wallace the corrupt small town cop who uses the CB radio to entrap the truckers. So the truckers band together to fight against him after he steps over the line.
It’s the truckers versus the cops and somewhat of an allegory for a western showdown. There’s slow motion fist fights accompanied by fiddle music. It becomes a FBI takedown but all the town folks along the way make “Rubber Duck” a folk hero.
There’s even simple country songs written for the film. It’s such a dumb film but reasonably entertaining.

To no fault of the acting the film falls shy of it's potential due to the bad CGI. You know Skerrit is scheming, you can just feel it.
No matter what Gabriel Macht is in he annoys me.
Pretty predictable and anticlimactic.

4K rewatch. 
Guy Ritchie is the UK’s answer to our Scorsese. 
Once you get the hang of the “English” language you realize how brilliant the writing of his films are. 
Colin Farrell is the MVP of this one.

Clinton is a jobless, man child who investigates the "murder" of his 17 year old cat "Mo". He lives at home in his moms basement after a failed attempt at owning a comic book store. During his investigation Clinton stumbles into something more sinister. He also meets the cats "other" owner Greta. 
Fran Kranz kind of reminds me of Tim Robinson in look and personality. The Clinton character dresses like he's Shaggy from Scooby-Doo, hair included. 
The movie is delightful and absurdly silly moment to moment with a couple meet cutes sprinkled in to make a fun little date night movie.

Another parody film, this time all the mafia movies rolled into one with a ton of dad joke style site gags. It is actually funny at times feeling like Leslie Nielson should have been in this.
It basically pokes fun at the Godfather films, Casino, and Goodfellas.

The first Orphan flick had the twist but now the cat is out of the bag. Knowing that “Esther” is a woman the suspense is seeing how long she deal with the charade and con the family and who is she going to kill next and how. There is a “hand that rocks the cradle element to the story”. Just when you think you know what’s going on you don’t....gotta love this twist.
I kind of find it funny that black light paintings are what makes the husband an artist??? If you saw the first one, this one is just as entertaining

Hackers, government secret tech, revenge, incestuous psychotic albino sister from the past who is into latex, nuclear weapons, and a straggling journalist from a previous encounter.
This one loses the luster from the previous Americanized film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo with Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara. It's more espionage than revenge.

Ex-Machina meets M3GAN. Josh jailbreaks his “companion” robot to commit a murder in order take a windfall of cash. It’s even kind of a heist movie. It’s fun and has a few twists and turns along the way. Never not boring and all the characters are well acted.

A light spy comedy-ish thriller for the martini crowd of the 60's. Welch was 27 years old at the time of this movie. Lots of superimposed video screen shots of Raquel in planes and parachuting is dated yet delightful. 
Fathom is her name and almost every character asks her about it. 
One of the villains Serapkin is almost like something out of an Austin Powers movie with his van dyke facial hair and eye glass monocle. Craziest part is when his henchmen butler emerges from the sea to pour him a glass of alcohol. 
These films are of a time when a handsome man can just force himself on a woman and she swoons. 
It's a who can you trust caper. Nothing spectacular but entertaining enough.

Escape and return to the dirtiest bridge erections ever mounted for the purposes of a long drawn out demolition. 
This story almost makes zero sense. Why help your enemy only to destroy what you built. 
Giant bats, leeches, hot boxes, and dysentery. It’s well written and well acted. It’s just drawn out way too long. 
I watched the first half on Blu-ray and fell asleep twice. Finished the next half on an iPad from movies anywhere.
Still watching this for the first time in 7th grade social studies class.

I’m kind of on a kick of watching WWII films dealing with the fight against the Japanese. This was a must watch according to my grandpop Hopkins who was a Pearl Harbor survivor. R.I.P.
Most of the film is the build up from both American and Japanese sides. Up and down the chain of command. Will they or won’t they attack and when. Lots of drama and conversation. The movie has an intermission inserted in it to divide the film from the prep to transition into the December 7th attacks. The attack scenes are top notch for their time. No special effects.
A gorgeous grainy and colorful transfer to high def blu-ray on this disc. There are two versions of the film on the disc. Theatrical and the extended Japanese version. I watched the theatrical. The Japanese speak in Japanese and there are subtitles for these scenes. This is probably the most real looking Pearl Harbor attack film to date. It’s a must see.

This cheese-fest goes in hard right away. You may be cool, but you’ll never be Chuck Norris driving a jeep over desert dunes while smoking a cigar cool. Silly sets, chintzy hieroglyphics, and a poorly written script...it’s got to be a Cannon film. The fights even for Norris are absolutely sub par. I mean it is supposed to be comedy/adventure flick. It’s corny as hell.
Melody Anderson is absolutely gorgeous here.

The first 2/3rds of the film is getting to know the characters and their training and going from a disorganized group of misfits to a team.
There's a small comedy element during military exercises then immediately into the final mission.
It's not one of my favorites but I like the premise that has been dozen a couple dozen times since this flick.

What the guys did in the end was pretty horrific.

A full on mental health and PTSD Marvel film. as for this part of the franchise it felt a little different not in a bad way, just different. Kind of like a DC Suicide Squad of F ups being used by their handlers and overcoming the forces of evil to be thrust into the light. There was the usual moments of comedy, plenty of hand, hand combat, and a sense of adventure to me. The big stand out is David Harbour as red guardian, but I think that’s just because I like the comedy aspect of it. It’s definitely worth a watch. You don’t necessarily need to see it in a theater to be honest.

Alcatraz double feature rewatch today with Eastwood kicking it off....
This is one flick where I agree with the bad guys demands. Our government sucks.
So many notable actors. My favorite performance is by Anthony Clark playing the effeminate hair stylist.
The downhill chase sequence is almost comical at this point.
The score is so over the top heroic.

At a Las Vegas hospital a crazy looking Nic Cage, “the enger” just pops into the back of “the drivers” car and makes him at gunpoint drive to his destination. Meanwhile the drivers wife is back at the hospital in labor waiting for him. Cage looks like a used up blackjack dealer/sideshow magician.
This movie kind of reminds me of “The Hitcher”. In a way it’s a road flick that all takes place within the one night and goes wildly out of control.
I really dug the in film soundtrack and the way it was presented audibly. Plus the score was pretty basic but cool too.
The movie was really well done, unhinged character work but hey that the Nic we know and love. Def worth a peep.

It's crazy how much ingenuity you can muster when you have nothing but time on your hands. Based on a true story, at least the escape is. No one really knows what happened to the men.
Probably one of my favorite non western Clint films besides In the Line of Fire.

It's crazy there was some good IP and Cannon just said fuck it.
Needed a laugh. So i popped open the Cannon 5 pack.
The opening credits wanted to be Superman, the score to be Ben-Hur like, and the characters wanted to be like Flash Gordon.
Honestly the outfits and matte painting backgrounds are the best part of this attempt. I'm also a sucker for 1980's dated CGI. Meg Foster was killing it here.
This is the one and only time that Gary Goddard got to try directing a film.
I was once again bored half way thru...not even that entertaining.
