Cowboy Bebop blends the western, sci-fi, noir genres together to make a completely one of a kind masterpiece in anime.
First off, the animation and drawing style tops most of the anime today. The subtle highlights and shadows create drawn depth that I don’t think is shown as well in other anime. It’s my favorite style of animation, which probably effects this bias, but it’s amazing nonetheless.

Bring Her Back does not have that much to savor on after its bite.
The first two acts feel like typical horror tropes that I’ve seen time and time again. And throughout these scenes there are images that make you queasy and uneasy, but there is such a lack of exploring any significant themes that it presents through this horror. Loss, blindness and the failing foster care industry could have all been delved into more.
The last 20 minutes offers some genuine newness to the genre that didn’t follow a formula and felt a little emotional. I wish it had more of that.
