Jonathan’s review published on Letterboxd:
I'm close to a 9 on this, and I think I'll be there on my IMAX viewing a week from today, which I will be watching with probably the biggest Dune fan I know, who can explain everything to me.
Even still, I find myself in a similar position that I was in coming out of the first film. This is absolutely a 10 out of 10 visual experience, but I don't fully get it narratively. There's so much information here that I feel like I have to rewatch it to get the full picture. I don't know if in this rewatch I'll come out preferring this film or the first, but I currently prefer the first. Regardless, I think I'm in the state where I want to hold off on giving full thoughts until that rewatch because really everything that puzzles me right now could absolutely not be an issue when I rewatch it a week from now.
So yeah, we'll be touching back next Saturday on this film.
(Also I just moved this weekend and my new city has AMC, so we are so back on A List. I'll be hitting theaters way more now)
