There’s an idea for a brilliant film here with some good chunky themes - but ultimately the script is not even close to strong enough to reach The Brutalist’s dizzying ambition. It’s handsomely mounted and I could have forgiven one or two clunky moments, but I truly feel that the characters are so fundamentally incomplete and broadly sketched that nothing really rang true.
