I’ve been waiting to see what movie takes the baton from The Truman Show in attempting to contextualise the hurricane of stuff we’ve been swept up into thanks to the Internet age…. I guess it’s this?
I’m an enormous idiot and always will be when it comes to themes and subtext, so while I’m sure this has A Lot To Say I just had a great time experiencing this concept evolve, and Cage’s manic energy (there are about 30 incredible line reads in this; and the head wobble, oh my god) channeled into such a pathetic character is just a treat to watch.
I’ll probably like this the more I think about it, which is always a good feeling to leave the theater with.
