delightfully chilling, midway through i felt like maybe the "fight" was too short and was crying out for the movie not to end, but it actually was perfect

Quite torn about how I feel…. 
On one hand, if I entirely tune it out, the movie is fantastic! Truly gorgeous work, and Emma Stone’s performance is remarkable. 
On the other, I cannot help but feel repulsed, and had to force myself to continue watching it. I hate the premise and its execution, and find it so deplorable that what could have been a beautiful and touching story about freeing oneself from a toxic and masculine grasp could lead to growth was tainted by a Frankenstein caricature with a normalisation of pedophilia. 
The idea of nudity, or sex itself, could have been done with tact, if Bella wasn’t enjoying the sex she had with the man who so clearly only wanted her for her childlike attitude!!

I get that it would be redundant if the movie had to clearly show how Duncan is an absolute creep of a man, but I still firmly believe that the movie was too kind towards him, considering he was interested in Bella while only knowing she was helpless and childlike. 

Those acts, against what is in EVERY WAY a child, are never condemned, which is where I stay bothered. Her own father underlined the first reason as to why he did not have sex with her as his.. lack of genitalia? Not that she was a toddler, nay, a newborn during the few years he knew her before her trip?

Maybe I am sour, but I believe great film should not come at the cost of keeping the image of children separated from enjoyed sex, especially in our « pedophilic » society!
