Never let it be said that Cage doesn't still have it in him to give a calm and quiet performance and still deliver. Wolff is shaping up to be impressive as well. It's hard to say much about this movie without giving a lot away because it's very rooted in emotion and relationships, so most big plot points won't seem like such unless you're already on the ride. Without giving much away, the scene about the pub is one of…

Decently creepy, but you know it’s fiction because she uses Bing.

Evil Toons

★★ Watched

It's called Evil Toons but there's one toon with about fifteen seconds of screen time. Carradine is credited as the lead but aside from a scene at the beginning and end he mostly just stands there looking ominously at the house before walking offscreen. The sorority girls... were not cast for their acting chops.

Also, watching a movie that opens with David Carradine hanging himself feels a bit morose.

Is there probably some digital trickery and trick cuts to make it all seem like one seamless take? Yeah. In spite of that is that logistics of assembling something like this absolutely mind boggling? Also yeah. Easily one of my favourite zombie movies of the last decade. Once it gets going it doesn't stop.

Elizabeth Moss is fantastic and manages to sell the whole thing, and considering how much of the movie is her by herself reacting to empty rooms that's no small feat. There are some super tense moments in this, and it's surprisingly light on jump scares for a Blumhouse movie*. My only big issue was the score. It's fine during quiet moments, but when scenes with more action are happening it becomes so loud and bombastic that it would almost be…

Voight is so young in this. 75 minutes in I looked up the cast list to see who played Joe, and it was 83 minutes before I believed it was him.  He and Hoffman both bring their A game whether I recognized him or not.
The movie itself showcases the gritty New York that they don’t show anymore. While the story focuses on Joe and Rizzo, the city itself is the third lead character. I’ve seen movies that showed these…
