This really got me fired up. Made me want to stop apologizing for being who I am. Made me want to pick up all my abandoned creative projects and put in the work to finish them. Made me we want to push through everything and live in my own truth. Edna O'Brien was a badass.

I had the pleasure of watching this at its Dublin Premiere, followed by a Q&A with Sinéad O'Shea so I might be going over the top but I don't think so.
Cards on the table, I also haven't read any of Edna's works before this movie.
This movie is the perfect biopic-documentary, in that I left desperate to read O'Brien's work.
Most of the movie is readings from diaries provided by Edna, readings of Edna's memoirs and interviews with Edna and her two son. It serves both as a documentary of Edna's work and of the climate of Ireland at the time and that stark difference enriches her diaries, interviews, and her works with such a spirit of rebellion, creativity, and heart-break.
never read edna o'brien's work but i love the film of GIRL WITH GREEN EYES, and watching this has really spurred me to read her work. there's a age about a woman laughing during a sexual encounter that gets read during this film that has me feeling like perhaps we are on the same wavelength. also i have definitely dated people like her ex-husband and am relieved i never married them :)
saw this w my mum and she said her mum would have loved it, and that felt so special. felt my heart break a little, but in a proud way almost
I hope to move forward with some of Edna’s sense of self, sense of clarity, sense that she has something to say and is going to say it no matter what. Incredible how much life she experienced and was not jaded or cruel. I’m in total awe of her glamour, candour and class. such a beautiful (and GORGEOUS) woman
