Harold Lloyd vs. the In-law is amusing but a little long for the story that it is telling and it lacks real highlights. The part with the turkey was great though. It’s an OK watch for Lloyd fans but not one of his better movies in my opinion. Check it out on YouTube if you are interested.

With mothers-in-law and comic misunderstandings aplenty, Hot Water was in firm proto-sitcom territory, episodic nature and all. Pretty much all laughs from the get-go, and one has to marvel at the ingenuity in how every sequence is seamlessly strung together. Harold Lloyd, GOAT.

Damn, Harold may just be the worst driver I've ever seen...which is saying something because I live in Florida where the roads are populated by senior citizens, crackheads and huge pick up trucks driven by assholes whose entire political ideology can be summed up on a vulgar bumper sticker.
Opening the New Year with tried and tested Harold Lloyd comedy, which brings the best comedy intertitles. Thanks, Harry. You're a star.

Loved it. Basically three stories merged into one. First one with live turkey and the final one with chloroformed mother in-law were absolutely brilliant. Also Lloyd and Ralston are so adorable together, probably my favourite screen couple (I only have two tbh).
I now only have one Harold Lloyd silent feature (his first one) left to watch.

Felt a little like the Sequel to "Girl Shy", first getting the Bride than live with her and the new Family... hurray?
First some Turkey&Spider Action in a Streetcar, than checking out his new hot Wheels and driving like a insane Person through the City with the Fam in the Back!
After that, drinking a full Bottle of Liquor, getting instant drunk and using a clever Peper-Chloroform Combination to knock out his Mother-in-Law... and nearly kill her with this!
At the End, there's some Haunting-House Stuff going on...

The story of an average guy who almost kills his annoying family in a number of hilarious ways.
This Harold Lloyd film was trying to avoid some pacing issues with his previous film being too long, but I think the very episodic nature of this one doesn't quite work, because it seems like it was a bit too committed to padding out each of those and so I feel like most of those go on just a bit longer than they should.
There are a few things that I think do end up working well. One, and I'm disappointed it really drops off later on in this, is that the intertitles are quite funny in their own right. That is something that I've come to expect a bit with Lloyd films, which seem to use intertitles a lot…
Hot Water should really be called The Proper Care and Feeding of the Mother-in-Law from Hell. Josephine Crowell plays said mother-in-law, and she had me pulling out my own hair!
