“Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?” 👎🏼

Romeo and Juliet was easily my least favorite thing I watched so far this year. It moves at an incredibly slow pace and I didn’t necessarily get what was happening. I am familiar with the story but multiple times I needed to look up the plot. The acting is so over the top making this just not my thing. At nearly 3 hrs this was a rough one, not sure why I watched it.

It’s a bit silly to log this but we’re on our honeymoon and it’s loggable so fuck it! Katie and I saw this at Shakespeare’s Globe tonight and it was absolutely amazing! A British-Western interpretation of Romeo and Juliet wasn’t expected but it was certainly a welcome surprise. Juliet’s actress in particular was a stand out, as she stood directly above Katie and I, her real tears practically fell onto our arms as we leaned on the stage. We got floor tickets at the open air stage, real peasant style. Mercutios charisma was also off the charts. Romeo was pretty good but honestly I feel he was a bit sidelined. Oh well. Everyone here was brilliant. Excited to see The Crucible there tomorrow!

Saw a different production of Romeo and Juliet at the Globe theater. A western one! I liked the sparse but intentional set decoration and the blood. Good fun!
