Charlie's Angels

So preoccupied with Making A Point and Sending a Message that it forgets to be an entertaining movie. Most of the writing is just pretty bland and uninspired, but some of it is really, really obnoxious (most of Kristen Stewart's lines) and dumb as hell (whatever the 'science' is behind the silly plot device technology). The whole movie has an awful visual flatness to it, combined with being consistently overlit, so everything looks fake. The Ariana Grande-produced soundtrack almost feels…

Death Train

Death Train aka Detonator is a very boring, very bland TV movie that I was duped into watching by the presence of Pierce Brosnan, Patrick Stewart, Ted Levine, and Christopher Lee. However, they are all sleepwalking through their scenes, perhaps no one more so than Brosnan. A real bummer.

"The Gang Enters the 21st Century"

Incredibly, powerfully early 2000s in concept and execution, to its great benefit. Finally somebody came along and breathed a little life into the final Next Generation film after the positively comatose Insurrection. It looks and feels like a real movie and not just an episode of TV! Getting Stuart Baird to direct was a great move—a bonafide action director and an experienced editor. "What? We some kinda Star Trek?"

No more fucking around with the original series crew; we're fully into Next Generation antics now. Without being overly familiar with any backstory regarding the Borg or any of the crew's adventures between the events of Generations and this, I think this film does a totally fine job ensuring I can follow what's happening, which is a credit to Jonathan Frakes's very competent direction.

The Next Gen cast…

X-Men: Days of Future Past

X-Men: Days of Future Past was better than I expected it to be. Don't get me wrong; it still had plenty wrong with it. But, for what it was, it was pretty decent. Not the best X-Men movie we've gotten yet, but close enough.

On a separate note, Jennifer Lawrence was 100% the worst thing about this film and ruined every scene she was a part of with her stupid voice and facial expressions.
