There's a shot in which we see two rivers ing to become one; one is cloudy with dirt while the other is clear, but after combining into one the clear water disappears. It's a beautiful and subtle metaphor for the way that war (and violence more generally) clouds everything, destroying the beauty of nature.

This movie reminded me a lot of a Terrence Malick movie: the way there is so much focus on the tactile, feet in mud, hands in…

Peter Benchley just couldn't help himself, huh? This follows the Jaws formula pretty closely, but does two important things different that I thought were interesting:

1) Makes a strong point that the animal isn't evil, just being an animal.

Decent documentary that shows a lot of the fun, weird, and downright bizarre ripoffs of Jaws. I appreciated the nods to the pre-Jaws shark movies that I'd never heard of, but it maybe focuses a little too much on the Syfy and Asylum bullshit movies in the second half. I did appreciate some backstory on John Barrowman's infamous line in Shark Attack 3: Megaladon, though.

**I worked on this movie, so big bias here!**

Man was it a treat to see this on the big screen, the speakers pumping and the crowd going nuts. It's very rewarding to see the product of your labor in that kind of environment.

Even though I worked on it, I genuinely think it's a great movie: the subversion of the slasher/killer clown thing, the way it comments on so many issues without being pretentious, and most of all the style of the movie. An excellent score, killer cinematography, and wonderful performances all around!

Maybe the most complex, interesting characters in 2023 cinema?

I really, really liked this and am still trying to wrap my head around everything. Taking a story of an unbelievable scandal and focusing on not the events themselves, but the long since aftermath, is a stroke of brilliance. As is adding the extra layer of the actress trying to understand, and insisting it's so she can bring 'truth' to the story, but is about as exploitative as the woman she's…
