Total fan-service fantasy in the universe of the Yautja. Definitely turn-brain-off and smile stuff but I *ATE* that shit up. Nonstop “woah!s,” “oh!s,” and “damn!s.” Far from substantive but raw as hell - pulse cannon hands, the long awaited samurai vs Predator duels, dogfighting with chain hooks, and fucking capes made out of bones. An indulgence in the most over-the-top aspects of the franchise. So cool. Really the only thing I didn’t fully vibe with was the animation style, too choppy even if it does make for some pretty imagery. Otherwise, glorious reddit Predator violence.

The Philippou bros go forward in their blossoming paths as horror filmmakers with yet another deeply intriguing, inspired and unflinchingly visceral outing. They continue to have great eyes for imagery, tactile brutality and otherworldly sentiments in their narrative backdrops, but also I feel continue to not allow themselves to break out of the more formulaic trauma angle…
