Book was better. This was enigmatic essentially for the sake of being enigmatic, on a level that eroded much of the inherent fascination that sci-fi evokes; if we can’t even begin to understand why the anomalies do what they do, and we never learn, why should we care? The book is ambiguous as well, but it gives enough information to stimulate the imagination. This was a beautiful movie though, very symmetrical.
In hindsight, it was really poor timing to immediately after watching this movie go to a party of an acquaintance where half the people there where either complete strangers or acquaintances who knew the strangers better than they knew me, meaning they enthusiastically chatted about various inanities while I sat in the back, played 2048, and contemplated my lack of close friends for 3 and a half hours. This experience has led me to believe that Thunderbolts had a rather shallow and surface level take on its subject matter. I appreciate the shoutout though.
