A competent revenge film, but by far my least favourite movie in the John Wick universe. You can definitely tell this is a different team. Visually nowhere near the heights of the other films. The third act really elevated this film for me from being a lower grade. Some really cool action sequences. Ana De Armas, I would do anything for you.
Sydney Film Festival 2025 #4
I’m conflicted. I thought the movie was gorgeously shot and I thought the score was great, but I have no idea what Kelly Reichardt was going for. Tonally it was an absurd, often hilarious bank heist movie and then it slowed down and became a film about Josh O’Connor’s character doing anything to scrape by. Have to sit on this. I thought the ending was quite funny.

A great start to the festival. This movie was a wild ride. Hilarious, at times heartbreaking and parts that me both cringe and anxiously awaiting what was coming next. I haven’t really seen Dylan O’Brien in much but he was so so good in this. Playing a dual role, expertly. James Sweeney, what a talent. Wrote, directed and stars in this. He gives such an unhinged and hilarious performance. Some really cool directional choices that wowed me. Writing was really good also. Really enjoyed this.
One of my most anticipated of the year, and it did not disappoint. Hilarious, entertaining (the runtime just flies by that I couldn’t believe it was at the end) but ultimately emotionally devastating, Anora is absolutely fantastic.
What more is there to say about Mikey Madison that hasn’t been said already. She is magnetic and she commands every frame of this movie. She is my favourite female performance of the year hands down. The ing cast is also so fantastic. …
