Matt’s review published on Letterboxd:
An immersive and impressive feat in filmmaking. Denis has managed to make both of these movies feel other-worldly and it's awe-inspiring to see these visuals, coupled with the sound design on the big screen - the sound reverberated through the cinema like it was replicating the sound of the dessert.
Everything from the soundtrack, to the performances (particularly Zendaya and Timothée) and use of colour is well thought out and held together by an epic, intricate story of prophecies and political intrigue.
I just wish the pivotal moments in these movies had more impact, they get swiftly tied up and brushed over despite the slow pace which again made this feel ever so slightly too long. Either way I now appreciate the first a lot more.
Can't wait for Messiah and if you can spare the money and the time please see this in the cinemas!!
