Great stuff! Simultaneously one of his darkest movies and one of his most sentimental. Great performances all around and some truly laugh out loud funny moments. I’m especially glad I saw this with a fellow art history nerd who elbowed me every time he recognized a painting.

My favorite part of rewatching this was seeing all the little details they include to show that the gay guy is gay. The best one is in one scene where he’s reading William S Burroughs’ Junky in class

This is the sort of messy, sad, gorgeous, sexy movie that queer films should aspire to be. Not everything here worked for me, but I love how Luca swung for the fences at every opportunity.
