Very pretty visuals at times but a very shallow story that does nothing interesting with the “save the creature from hunter and also hunter has a redemption arc” story. I do appreciate the puppetry and interesting world, what little we see of it.

An interesting concept that feels a bit empty. I enjoyed the practical effects and cool slasher kills, but it honestly feels like Friday The 13th except the camera follows Jason. I get that’s the point, but Jason doesn’t really do much besides stalk and kill so that’s what you’re left with.
I had fun though, and the lack of a soundtrack and tension that gets built up between kills is pretty insane at times. The log splitter scene is fucking brutal. I don’t know, I guess I feel like this could have been a pretty good homage to classic slashers even without the perspective shift gimmick.
Wow! Never before have I felt so seen on screen. Growing up as a not exactly neurotypical mixed kid felt like such an insular experience for me and watching this felt so unexpectedly gratifying. I feel like this was a ‘coming of age’ story but painfully believable.
