If you can accept the 28-year-old-going-48 Steve McQueen as a teenager, this ticks all the right boxes for a b-movie thriller. A pacey piece that rips along once it gets going, with some state-of-the-art (for 1958) special effects that still look like they were ahead of their time. It felt appropriate for a day when the world closed its doors.
