Definitely my favorite piece of non-Lucas canon Star Wars media ever made. Hard not to think of it as canon considering how well made it is and how much it serves as a clean bridge between the second and third movies. Every frame of it is a gorgeous piece of art. Great sense of humor throughout too. Probably the horniest Star War ever made. When Threepio pulls down his robe and reveals his gold plate and burlesque music plays 💦💦💦

There was plenty to like so I’ll start there:
- cinematography: every frame was gorgeously composed. Looked like a painting. Quite a feat for a film with one of the least interesting color palettes of all time.
- Willem Defoe: “I’ve seen things that would make Sir Isaac Newton crawl back into the womb” is one of the best lines of 2024. Perhaps the only correct casting in the film…
