Funny story after funny story Kathy did not hold back for her first Bravo special

Started to watch this last night but got too sleepy, and then started to watch this when I woke up but was still too sleepy got some caffeine and finished lol. 

The propaganda is on full display here and as someone who isn’t feeling particularly patriotic recently it’s not my favorite. The thing is though, Gene and Judy are simply electric together though and every time they sing the movie is great. Standout numbers are For Me and My Gal and After You’ve Gone, and for sheer weirdness and insanity Don’t Leave Me Daddy (that number is so creepy but it stands out). Unfortunately too much of the movie is focused on the propaganda and as someone who is pretty anti-war it doesn’t really work for me. I love how fun their other two movies are compared to this one

So I’ve found that movies whose primary genre is romance just aren’t my favorite genre, but I can still say this is a well done one, and I love how sensitive and sweet Robert Walkers character was, and also that they let Judy be a glamorous romantic lead! She is absolutely gorgeous in this movie and I’m glad they let her star in this

Nicole Byer is so funny, I get why they picked the other night to go first because the audience was just SO unhinged but Nicole still managed to make this really fun.

Kind of a bummer to end on with my Kathy binge watch. It’s almost a decade later and we’re still having to deal with Trumps bullshit. 

This is a really important story, and I love her ability to find the comedy in this situation. I gotta say that I am so proud of Kathy for overcoming all she has overcome and still making us laugh and entertaining us with her stories. ❤️

(I’m not sure if I’ve seen this before but I don’t think so so marking as first time watch)

It’s a pretty standard romcom, and very flawed (the central romance moved WAY too fast, and the characters are flawed in ways that sometimes make them a little unlikable) but considering I rarely if ever have seen a gay movie romance  with anyone remotely looking like me it was still special to see a movie like this get a theatrical release and I’m not too mad about its flaws for that reason.  Chubby gay boys like me deserve shitty rom coms too!

Bond stop smacking women! Bond has smacked his love interest to try and get info in the last two of these movies and it very much shows how dated these movies are and just how much they couldn’t get away with now. Other than this though Bond comes across as more of a fuckboy than the full on sexual predator that Connery sometimes came across as (don’t like that he basically cheats on Tracy).

There is some cool stuff in this one and I think in pure filmmaking it felt much more modern than the previous ones I’ve seen, but unfortunately this one REALLY drags in the middle there when Tracy leaves the movie for a while and amps up again during the ski chase right before she reenters. However when it amps up it REALLY amps up and I can definetly say this is quite solid. Tracy is great in this one and extremely likeable and it’s believable that James falls for her, and because Tracy likes James he just naturally becomes more likeable. In fact I think this is a very likeable Bond, he just seems like a nicer guy even though he still is a womanizer. 

The ending of this is also genuinely heartbreaking and it’s kind of shocking how utterly just sad it is. We want James to be happy which is something I’ve never felt before in previous movies, and we want Blofeld to pay (I’m glad he eventually gets his revenge later in the series). Anyways this movie isn’t perfect (that middle really is slow) but when it works it really works and I ire how bold it was.

Fun fact I watched half of this as a kid but got bored and stoped watching. Interesting because of the three Connery movies I’ve seen I think this is the best (though I haven’t seen Dr. No in a long time). I was torn on my score for this one. It’s a 6.5/10 for me but 3.25/5 isn’t a star rating on here lol. But I enjoyed this one more than Goldfinger! I think because while Bond is still kinda shitty to women he’s not the sexual predator he comes across as in Goldfinger. Fun action and espionage in this one.

Welp… that was disappointing. Ugh I really was pumped for this one but got a little nervous when reviews started coming out. And it’s certainly not bad! Overall it’s good, but I can’t help but be disappointed. The plot got really convoluted and hard to follow at times, which is kind of a problem with all these movies but it was really apparent, and I’ll probably need to watch this at home with subtitles to truly understand all that’s going on. This movie is almost three hours long, and I’m sorry, that’s too damn long for a movie of this nature. I found myself checking the time to see how much movie we had left halfway through the movie and that’s never a good sign.  
And the Entity just doesn’t work for me as the main villain here. Also this just doesn’t feel like a finale! In the previous movie it seemed like we were gonna have all these big reveals and learn more about Ethan’s history and we don’t really get any of that.

On the plus side I really loved Angela Bassett here she seems to play sympathetic authority figures extremely well. Some of the stunts are extremely impressive and there are some truly tense moments here. The action is great as always. And I always love the family nature of the team, but (SPOILER ALERT) damn is it disappointing to lose Illsa and Luther back to back. It’s crazy that we never mention Illsa once in this one! And Luther’s death feels really anticlimactic too and we don’t get a chance to grieve.  I love Benji and what he got to do in this one, but it was really odd how many new team were introduced in this movie. I don’t dislike them! I actually don’t hate Grace as a character but I REALLY didn’t like the ship tease they had in this one. I just… no Illsa was his true love and she just died, and in the last movie he really felt like an older brother figure (and he feels way older than her). But yeah the team is likeable but couldn’t help but miss the perfect team we had in Fallout and the fun banter they had. This movie just is so serious there isn’t much time for that kind of fun. It seems like it’s trying to leave the door open for sequels which is frustrating because this was d like it was the end of Ethan’s story and it’s just not. 

Overall it sounds like I hate this movie, and I really don’t! The final set piece on the plane gives it a lot of points to be honest, and some solid suspense sequences and fight scenes. But yeah I don’t like this as much as most of the other movies, with one exception (Mission Impossible 2).

A little odd that this one is starting to embrace science fiction considering that though there were fun gadgets and such in previous movies they were usually otherwise not really Sci-fi. It’s interesting that they are establishing that all IMF are ex criminals in the 7th of 8 movies. And also this one just feels long though to be honest it probably didn’t help I watched this in a double feature with fallout. But yea it didn’t have the feel of a fast moving machine that Ghost Protocol and Fallout do. However, It is nice to do something different other than “crazed rogue agent wants to cause chaos cause bitter” though. The team is as fun as ever (I love that both are regular returning team are techies. In Rogue Nation Luther doesn’t have as much to do, so I love seeing him have so much more attention in this movie and Fallout) and there are some truly amazing set pieces here. Illsas fate in this one is a super bummer and I hope it’s either faked out in the next one or come back some how. I honestly don’t hate Grace though and she doesn’t seem like she’s trying to be an Illsa replacement.

Yea so this one’s considered the best for a reason. This movie kicks ass. The stakes feel incredibly high, the movie moves, and this is by far the best team we have (including Julia!!!).

Doesn’t quite have the sense of fun Ghost Protocol had that makes it one of my favs, but it has a stronger villain (though I will say his motives were lead out a bit more clearly) and some great setpieces. Illsa is a fantastic new character, I absolutely love following her and I’m glad that of all the female team she’s the one who stuck. The stakes in this though just aren’t high enough for me. Like it’s hard to overcome nuclear war, and your wife possibly dying (I love Benji but I think the fact Julia is an innocent civilian and just how evil  Owen is makes that hit harder). This one’s about equal to Mission Impossible 3 for me. The inclusion of Illsa, and the set pieces in this one elevate it a little, but I think the third movie has a bit of a better plot, and that killer villain.

I was disappointed in this to be honest. I honestly think that the critics were kind of right about it when it first came out. I mean there’s plenty to like her and I probably like more of it than I dislike (hence the rating), I mean it’s a fun concept with some fun characters, but then they’re bits that just feel like punching down, repetitive, and a lot of missed opportunities. The ending of this movie was a big letdown. Overall I understand both sides of this I understand why critics hated this and also why this is a cult classic to so many people.

I mean idk the documentary itself was not that great but I love Abba and there was at least some new information I hadn’t been aware of before.

Kathy really is one of the best storytellers of our time

Very solid! I don’t really feel like I have much to say here but the twists and turns in this movie were genuinely surprising. I stayed engaged in the story throughout and enjoyed the watch! I’m glad that vampires are making a comeback and the vampires in this one are bloody, violent, and scary but complex because they also still feel human in a way (especially based on the very last scene of the movie in the mid credits). Michael B Jordon does a great job playing two distinct characters, and it is refreshing to have a horror movie where the female characters sexuality is not judged or looked down upon.

I just can’t help but kinda feel like this movie was made for me specifically. Look if you try to follow this on a plot level you’re gonna be left lost but on a thematic level it works for me. It’s 95 minutes of neon, 80s new wave, and satirizing heteronormativity and reality TV (before it even existed) what could be better!

There are still lines in this though where I literally have no idea what their supposed to mean 😂

I can’t bring myself to give this 5 stars because I have some major issues with it in regards to how it portrays Helen and Madeline compared to Ernest. Ernest gets a happy ending despite pushing his wife down the stairs and leaving Helen for Madeline, and I just don’t think he deserves it. Also why does Madeline not tell on Ernest right after it happens? I know she learns later she needs him but it’s odd that she doesn’t. I’m glad they changed it so Helen pushes Madeline in the stage version because this feels more in character for her, get rid of the perhaps unintentional abuse subtext, and let’s us feel more sympathetic to Ernest. Also the fat suit on Helen has aged poorly, glad this is cut from the musical as well. 

But I can’t help it. This movie is campy, ridiculous, and funny with some hilarious performances from its leads especially Meryl and Goldie. I love their interaction, they have so many iconic moments, it’s just fun to watch them spar. I’m glad the musical exists because I always thought this movie was prime to be remade, because so much of this movie is so fun and entertaining, but some flaws hold it back. I do think inside this there is messaging about the difficulty of aging in Hollywood though perhaps it’s not written very delicately or as sympathetically as it could, like it is in movies like “The Substance”. Overall a funny, entertaining watch that I find myself returning to often, because the positives here for me far outweigh the negatives. Madeline and Helen are iconic characters, and honestly as much as this movie frustrates me, I love it too much to give it any lower rating.

It’s kind of insane just HOW much better Revenge of the Sith is compared to The Phantom and Attack of the Clones. Like in every way. Acting, action, emotion, etc.

Also damn Mace you really had to fuck it up for everyone. Like dude executing Palpatine right in front of the kid who’s clearly losing it right now? Not a good plan.

Also I still gotta say Yoda and Obi-Wan give up on destroying the Sith WAY too easily.

Yay a solid MCU movie! I had a good time with this and enjoyed its exploration of trauma and how it affects people. More like “Morally Grayvengers” am I right??? Poor Taskmaster though my god

This movie is an improvement over Phantom Menace in a lot of ways with stronger humor, less wooden characters, and a less convoluted plot, but is flawed in other ways with the problem that Anakin is just straight up unlikable for most of this movie, and a lot of the time the Anakin/ Pe romance is showcased you can’t help but cringe a little bit (there are moments it works but a lot of the time it doesn’t) as well as the digital filmmaking (this was one of the first major movies shot digitally)just not looking as good with the result of a lot of the CGI actually looking more dated than Episode I. Like the CGI is just real ugly in this tbh. This is probably a part of the reason I find the new worlds and a lot of the action a bit more exciting in episode 1 compared to 2. 

I do like the politics in II and III (I know everyone isn’t a fan) and think the way they are done is a lot more investing than Episode I, and also I think when Anakin goes full villain with the sand people Hayden Christensen genuinely sells it quite well and it’s rather scary. Shmis death is also still genuinely heartbreaking and Hayden sells this well.

The battle of Geonosis is badass and adds a LOT of points to this movie. The last half hour of this just absolutely slaps.

Overall it’s mixed there are things Phantom Menace does better and things Attack of the Clones does better. Overall I think I actually have changed my opinion and I like Phantom Menace better than Attack of the Clones but I still enjoy and have strong nostalgia bias for both.

I kept getting distracted by trying to get this movie to a setting on my surround sound where I could hear what they were saying but also wasn’t having my ears blown out every time an action scene started.

Anyway this movie is heavily debated and critically examined, and like… yes there’s a lot of problems here. The characters can be kinda wooden, the humor with Jar-Jar is really only funny when your a child, and the plot is somewhat convoluted. BUT then on the other hand you have these absolutely amazing worlds, amazing action, and endless creativity. So like… yea its flaws are apparent but it also has some of the most memorable set pieces of any movie in my opinion. Do I think it is very valid that people were disappointed by this? Yea compared to the original trilogy it’s a huge step down. And I’ll it there are times in this movie I get antsy cause of some pacing issues but screw it this movie just brings my inner child so much joy I gotta be honest here. I think this movie honestly deserves a 3 star but I’m bumping it up a half star cause it just FEELS like Star Wars to me yall and I love and somewhat miss what Star Wars was before Disney

Dropout is always a comfort watch low key

It’s weird how people’s feelings on this one really seem to indicate what they value in a Mission: Impossible movie. To be quite honest I don’t think any of these movies really have super strong plots, when I think of these movies I think of the absolutely amazing set pieces and this movie just back to back has great set pieces, but I also just love the banter and fun of the team in this one. They’re a hot mess in the best way, and I low key think this would be the best Mission: Impossible team if we weren’t missing the icon, the legend, the moment Luther. 

I kinda hope we have an Endgame style end in the Final Reckoning where every IMF main team member we’ve ever had shows up to help Ethan.

Not my favorite Judy movie, she always shines when singing and performing but this really feels like Lana Turner’s movie, and I do think she gives a very solid performance. I found myself getting unexpectedly emotional at the end of her story. The problem is this movie is just too damn long, and it isn’t exactly the most original story in the world, but I did quite enjoy seeing the Ziegfeld production numbers (though one is like the definition of cultural appropriation), sets, and costumes, and Judy performing is always lovely. The end though weirdly felt quite abrupt. Overall this movie really is Lana Turners with Judy just showing up to sell those musical numbers (and killing like she always does).

I was 7 years old when Revenge of the Sith came out. It was the first PG-13 Star Wars movie so my parents made me wait till it was released on DVD to see it. The same thing happened to Harry Potter the same exact year. Revenge of the Sith was the first Star Wars movie to release after my Star Wars obsession was really in full swing and it was the first time I really anticipating a new movie. Waiting for the DVD to come felt like torture, I wanted to see it so badly and i distinctly the day the DVD came in the mail (I had since turned 8) and just how excited I was to see it for the first time. But I never got to see it on the big screen.

So for my inner child I had to go see this one in theatres, and despite how flawed it is, it will always hold an incredibly special place in my heart. Sometimes I forget just how special the first six Star Wars movies are to me (yes even Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones) but this got me to update my four favorites because I realized it’s incomplete without a Star Wars movie on there because it’s truly the franchise that made me love movies.

I still feel like Obi-Wan and Yoda especially gave up on defeating the Sith WAY too easily though.

Great movie but bad villian. I appreciate the sense of humor in this one though, and the sense of excitement in this one. I really enjoy how much the team is flying by the seat of their pants in this one, it is a perfect expansion of the tone for these movies. I did miss Luther though but glad he had a cameo at least.

The way the woman are treated in these movies just makes me very uncomfortable. Fun action and spy stuff, and in some ways 60s in a fun campy way, but at other times I could really feel the age of this and it hasn’t necessarily aged gracefully. I’m torn, at times in this movie it was everywhere between 2.5 and 3.5, I’m gonna give it a 3 and just accept I’m more of a Mission: Impossible fan. Bond is just such an asshole, But I might explore some of the other ones people really like and see if I feel at all differently.

Also that romance between Pussy and James is one of the worst handled things they like have no romantic chemistry (and he basically assaults her but based on this movies logic it’s fine cause she liked it. Yikes). I did like her before they had her get “redeemed” by having sex with James (ew).

The movie where Mission: Impossible as a film series really came together. J.J. Abram’s may be a flawed director but he is very good at frantic action. I am a fan of Alias so it makes sense I would enjoy his Mission: Impossible movie. This is where we really start to see Ethan’s development as a character. Also I really enjoy the team we have. By far the most memorable villain, and high stakes.

Damn though in every movie someone has either gone rogue or accused of being rogue in the IMF, they need to get their shit together lol.

More like “Meh”ssion Impossible am I right? Or… or “Mid”ssion Impossible!!! You get it?! Huh? Ya see what I mean? Haha you get it??? Hehe…he

Kinda crazy how much better the last 20 minutes of this is to the rest of the movie.

Had fun with this one this time. I think the problems are still there, the plot can be a bit convoluted on first watch, it can be a little slow at times, and Ethan Hunt hasn’t really been developed as a character as much as he is in later entries, however there is still a lot to like here. I think the opening sequence is kind of brilliant in how it subverts expectations, the train chase is super fun, Kittredge, Max, and Luther are great characters, and Tom Cruise really does give his all and keeps the energy high . And the Langley heist is one of the best set pieces in any action movie, focusing on quiet tension and suspense more than anything else. Overall I think that this is a good but flawed movie, and it hovers between 3 and 3.5 depending on the watch but it feels like a 3.5 right now.

One of the best sequels ever made, Toy Story 2 takes everything that made the first movie great and expands on it. It’s funnier more emotional, the animation looks better, it expands on everything that made the first one great

Watching this in HD after only ever seeing this on VHS is something. But also kinda crazy how much of the animation still looks solid 30 years later. Also I realized that this movie has a lot of the same themes as Pearl.
The themes and plotting aren’t as complex as the other Toy Story’s at first glance but when you look deeper they are. Just a magical movie

I didn’t realize this was a remake of The Shop Around the corner meaning this is technically the first version I’m seeing as I still haven’t seen that movie, but it’s a charming little concept and Judy Garland just elevates anything she’s in by being incredibly talented. And “I Don’t Care” is probably one of her best numbers. Not as fun as Harvey Girls and Summer Stock but still charming but slight.

Feel a little attacked that in order to make the pen pal seem bad he calls him fat and bald lol

Beautiful animation (especially on the nutcracker suite wow), interesting idea, and Sorcerer’s Apprentice and the Night at Bald Mountain half of Night at Bald Mountian/ Ave Maria are iconic and well done, but god this movie is hard to sit through. Most of the segments way overstay their welcome, especially since there isn’t really much of any plot in most of them, it’s all about vibes and tone and it’s just hard to sustain interest in that. The best segment is Sorcerors Apprentice which is the most plot heavy. And the Night at Bold Mountain section is great, but the Ave Maria half of that segment isn’t as interesting. Maybe I’m uncultured swine idk but i may revisit Sorcerers Apprentice and Night at Bald Mountain but cannot imagine watching this whole movie ever again. I thought it may be easier as an adult but nah, beautiful imagery is great but the plot is what keeps me there and this movie isn’t about that and it’s just not my thing. Sorry y’all.

So this kids movie is scarier than most horror movies huh 😂

I had so much fun with this one! First of all, fuck WB for shelving this movie, but thank you Ketchup entertainment for giving this the theatrical release it deserves. It was just so fun to watch this movie with an audience full of laughing people, and I was shocked at some of the gags they had in there (in a very good way). This was really funny with some of the most memorable jokes I’ve seen in a while.

There were moments where the premise started to stretch thin, but then there were more absolutely hilarious jokes and it got right back on track. 

Please please please go and see this movie!!! Movies like this were meant to be seen with a large group of people.

My mom used to sing “Baby Mine” to me as a lullaby when I was a kid, and I did burst into tears during that number thank you very much.

Also love that the animators were like this movie isn’t traumatizing kids enough, let’s add “Pink Elephants on Parade”. 

Of the three older Disney movies so far this one has worked for me the best. Underdog and chosen family stories just work for me. 

But yikes those crows and that Roustabout song are definitely… something huh
