- being in my feelings + experiencing loss recently = lot of tears for this one

- i think it's a flawed movie, but the way it captures these different feelings of sex, the awkwardness, the funny, the self consciousness and self loathing, and the moment when you lock in, maybe I haven't watched enough movies but I haven't seen that pulled off as honestly as I have here

- the most simple, barebones and obvious story, but where all the other elements work in concert to make it actually effective and affecting
- those fucking zooms, and the montages where the subjects are completely isolated in a void, Raimi was ready for comic book movie fame
- Sharon Stone nailed that scene where she hesitates and doesn't kill that bastard, she looks 10 years younger just from the fear and vulnerability she has to channel there

- I guess I’m a sucker for a dynamic and textured frame, cuz I was like in awe of a lot of the run time
- a live action cartoon, one that’s comical and pretty dark
- one of the greatest two phase boss fights I’ve ever seen

- one of the greatest “catch this while it’s on TV” movies of all time
- unless it’s in the original, the directors cut has two tundra workout montages in a row. Honestly this movie is 50% montage
- I don’t think this is what boxing looks like, hands down taking every punch until you decide to have determination and flip roles
- hope James brown isn’t too shook he just performed before a man’s brutal death lol

- really felt Levenes desperate and tragic ending this time. He’s a bastard still, but they fucked him and gave him no other option really
- idk if my balls have ever felt like concrete, I must be doing it wrong

- a simple movie, a man who is possessed by power and rids himself of anyone who challenges it
- it don’t get more American than oil and jesus

- this is like Eye-talian American Mumblecore or something, buncha sad n poor folks just saying shit lol
- the photography isn’t well composed exactly, but the depiction of Philly and the shots of the city give it such a texture

- I had all the power to change what I was watching, and for some reason I kept this on the entire way

- it teeters on the precipice of annoying, and it sometimes slips, but in the end it was charming and fun
- it’s got all the elements of kids adventure movies of the 80s and 90s, but there’s an edge to it that makes it’s earnestness feel earned and not just saccharine like what I’d expect from kids media from the era

- the editing is the best part of this, the content and pacing of the cutaways are a treat

- less hot on it than my first time through, but I gotta appreciate the artistry of the special effects and their design, influencing my fav Japanese media like berserk n silent hill
- shared a problem with candyman where barker introduces an evocative thematic idea, like the line between pleasure and pain and the lengths one goes to to attain that or the nature of folklore and why / how a story is perpetuated, but then kinda loses interest in that to just give us good ol fashion spooks n murders. Candyman is not to the same level as hellraiser though, hellraiser just baits you with this bdsm feel at the beginning and then it disappears super fast. 
- can’t help but love a bone dragon
- realized looking back this review is just a fleshed out version of my initial one lol

- maybe cuz I knew the story from when I was a kid, but I was pretty neutral during this whole thing
- dude just let the kid stand in front of the TV in the last scene, like maybe tell him to get the fuck out lol

- I guess I’m a degenerate, cuz I had a good time lol
- it’s violent reputation might be overblown, or I am too desensitized 
- the actor of Ichi has a perfect manga protag  face, he mugs exquisitely to the camera 
- probably set back the S/M community about 5 years in Japan, hopefully the stench of this movie has worn off
