quietly crushing. where screams would be more than justified, this says so much by simply starkly and soberly laying all the facts bare, and letting conversations of unimaginable cruelty play out casually - only further underscoring the enormity of this unchecked and inescapable evil.

Doesn’t come anywhere near the first film (the story is a bit more scattered, and I wasn’t a fan of many of the new characters), but whenever the core trio is onscreen, you just can’t go wrong - Midler, Najimy, and Parker still got it. Still, while it’s fine and semi-fun for one watch - especially for ~spooky season~ - I don’t think I’ll be adding this one to the yearly rotation. Expected a little more after 29 years :(

MORE MARVEL LIKE THIS, PLEASE AND THANK YOU.

The whole time I was watching this, I just kept thinking of that Tyler, The Creator tweet “Un-Follow Me Now, This Is Gonna Be the Only Thing I Tweet About For The Next Week. Ive Wanted This For Years Fuck. What The Fuck.” because why isn’t EVERY Marvel project made with this much style and spunk??? I’m a horror nut, so I knew I was gonna eat this up from the teaser…

haven’t logged a movie in over a week which is entirely unlike me but letting everyone know i’m still alive and have simply been locked the fuck in to one of the best seasons of television i’ve ever seen. if you haven’t ed andor hive yet literally what are you doing. i regret all the time i wasted these past three years so much. as good as your favorite star wars movie and sometimes maybe even better. can’t form any other coherent thoughts rn but just wanted to spread the good word before i lock back in for s2. Can totally see why some wouldn’t like this, but I had a ton of fun :)

Tatiana Maslany can do no wrong, Charlie Cox is incredibly attractive, and even though the episodes vary in entertainment value from time-to-time, there’s enough hits (the pilot, Madisynn’s Moment™️, and the final two for SURE) to make it all worthwhile. And, at the end of the day, if this was what it took to get Maslany’s Jennifer Walters on the board as a major player in the MCU, I’m all for it. Let her lead the Avengers, honestly.

Idk y’all, I thought this kinda slapped???

I’ve found the MCU Disney+ shows to be a… bit of a mixed bag so far. You’ve got the great (WandaVision), the good (Hawkeye), the middling - for me - (Loki), the afterthought (What If…?), and the dumpster fire (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier). I was worried Moon Knight was gonna be a real whiff after some of the first reviews were more mixed than expected, but, to my surprise, each episode…

Turning Red

Turning Red finds Pixar surveying some of its most mature subject matter yet while retaining its signature heart and humor, telling a tale as old as time of maturing and making peace with our personal quirks and simultaneously separating itself from similar stories with writer-director Domee Shi’s specific point-of-view, presenting this generation with yet another absurdist, amusing, and astonishingly artsy Pixar pleasure.

Hawkeye

Well, what fun this was. At the start, I was initially worried that Hawkeye would be a bit too “small-scale” (and despite often searching for smaller stories like this in the MCU, it’s still important that there are some stakes), but I felt that it thankfully quickly picked up, almost entirely due to the compelling chemistry between the cast, with no weak links to be found. I’ve never been a huge fan of Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye - moreso because of…
